New fume extractor brochure from Purex International
Many CEMs are increasingly using lasers during the manufacture of PCBs,
for example laser drilling systems. They can also utilise wave and reflow
or robotic soldering systems as well as traditional hand soldering stations.
The process of lasing a material produces what is known as a 'laser plume'
whilst soldering produces a complex cocktail of hazardous materials called
colophony. The laser plume can reduce the efficiency and accuracy of the
laser by causing beam attenuation whilst both the plume and colophony
contain particles and gases which are hazardous to the health of employees,
should they inhale them.
To combat this problem Purex International has developed a range
of microprocessor controlled extraction and purification systems which
remove the laser plume or colophony from the process area and then filter
any hazardous particles and gases before returning clean air to the workplace.
A new brochure is now available which details the Purex units
and accessories that are required to safely deal with contaminants. It
is available for download directly or by calling a local Purex distributor.
Purex also manufacture units which extract and purify fumes that
are generated during gluing applications and chemical treatments. Call
