How Purex Dust and
Fume Extractors Work
Purex ‘Digital’ machines
come with a sophisticated air monitoring and control
system developed to ensure filtered
air quality complies with health & safety requirements.
The machine operating status is clearly visible on

Automatic Flow Control The system reduces power consumption
by controlling airflow automatically as users plug
in and out of extraction
ports, while extending filter life by automatically
increasing vacuum as filters fill up. This feature
also ensures that once set, airflow rates do not
fall over time, particularly critical on wave and reflow
soldering machines and lasers where extraction must
remain constant. Interfacing The purification system controls can be integrated
with an existing production control circuit so
that extraction
starts and stops automatically with the laser or
other machinery. Failsafe controls can also be set
to stop
or signal the associated equipment if the extraction
flow rate falls below a pre-set minimum. A run-on
timer is also available. Gas and Particle Sensors Mounted in the clean air side of the machine these
sensors alert the operator if a filter is saturated,
missing
or damaged or if a seal has been compromised.
This feature is highly desirable in order to protect
employees and
comply with stringent health and safety laws. Patented Filter Technology Purex filters are precision manufactured and
offer excellent filter life. A variety
of filter solutions
are available
depending on the application. The Purex
patented Labyrinth™ pre-filter
offers around ten times the life of a normal pre-filter.
It prevents premature blockage of the main filter by
removing larger particles from the airstream. In independent tests, the main HEPA filters
remove 99.997% of all particles above
0.3 microns and
95% down to 0.01
microns. A chemical layer is also employed
to remove toxic gas from the airstream. The HEPA/Chemical filters utilise a pleated
design which offers greater life than
normal filters.
Also, a reinforcing
membrane allows the use of high pressure
pumps that are able to draw air through
partially blocked filters
for
much longer, vastly increasing their
life. Powerful Brushless Blowers Purex machines utilise high pressure
blowers to generate the vacuum
required to keep
products clear
of contamination
and airflow constant throughout
the life of the filter. Vacuum flow rates
on Purex
machines
range
from 200
to 5000m3/hr. This means a suitable
machine is available for most processes.
Many
systems are
also upgradeable
if required. Thermal sensor Constantly monitors machine operating
temperature to prevent damage. IP56 rated Prevents dust and high pressure
water jets (when used e.g.
for cleaning)
coming into
contact with
internal
systems. All cabinets are
manufactured from stainless steel and are
mounted on high strength
castors
for ease of mobility. |
